Metaverse Discovery Day Event Set for June

Metaverse Discovery Day, an event to take to “take you on an immersive journey to unlock the opportunities and potential for your organization within the Metaverse.” is set for June 8, 2023, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Keynote speakers and panelists will be present giving case studies of brands in the space, providing unique experiences, and more. The World Metaverse Council was announced as a key partner in the event, their focus is on allowing the Metaverse to be more equitable and inclusive.
SHIB: The Metaverse Releases New Updates

The creators of SHIB: The Metaverse, released new updates announcing that by the end of 2023 users will have the opportunity to explore some areas of the space. In addition, they created a new Twitter account and are holding a contest with free land as a prize! Keep an eye out for updates in the blog created on their website.
Metaverse Beauty Week in June

Following Metaverse Fashion Week which wrapped up on March 31, Decentraland, ROBLOX, and Spatial have announced Metaverse Beauty Week. From June 12-16 the platforms will run the event with Cult LDN, a creative agency based in London. At the event physical and digital prizes can be won, along with wearable NFTs, and more. “We’ve been planning [MBW] for quite some time now, inspired by the original Decentraland’s Metaverse Fashion Week event,” said Bridey Lipscombe, CEO of Cult LDN and co-founder of Metaverse Beauty Week. “The success of Metaverse Fashion Week was in the gamification. Meanwhile, we are [prioritizing] experiences versus literal replications of real-life shops, which were not as successful [for Metaverse Fashion Week].”
French Government Seeks Public Opinion on Metaverse

On April 11, France’s Directorate General for Enterprise posted a consultation requesting citizens, companies, and associations answer questions regarding “virtual spaces”. The purpose of the consultation is to allow the public to offer their opinions on the space and ““offer an alternative to the virtual immersive universes currently offered by the international giants.”. There are different questionnaires for each group (citizens, businesses, etc.) with citizens being asked about their experiences with blockchain, VR technologies and the like whereas businesses are asked questions focusing on funding. OCBC Bank Opens in Decentraland

OCBC Bank, the Singaporean Banking Corporation has opened a new experience in Decentraland. Called “OCBCx65Chulia”, named after the street their headquarters is on, the experience first offers visitors a glimpse into the history of the bank and what their latest offerings and services are. In addition, an account and credit card can be opened through an application from the virtual space along with more promised features. The project will reportedly have more features coming in Q3 of this year.
